Today in Pictures - V

8/12/08 - 8/14/08

I believe this will be the last post concerning Michelle and Kay's visit. After Kyle's birthday party on Monday, we packed up and headed out with Philip and Collette early Tuesday morning. Our destination? A mini-vacation at the Pacific Ocean. Specifically? A small town north of Puerto Vallarta called, Sayulita.

It took us 8 hours to get there...and then I'm not sure how long we drove around trying to find the house we had rented. It was a big house with 3 bedrooms, 3 baths, a kitchen, and large sitting porch...and a private pool, too! Unfortunately there had been some mis-communication between the renter and the property manager...and our house had not been cleaned for our arrival. So, we drove around looking at other places while the maid and gardener prepared the place.

The weather was very hot, humid, and buggy....but the ocean was just beatiful. Very relaxing! Wednesday we spent several hours at the ocean and then came back to the house so the kids could take a nap. That evening we drove around the area (for a long time!!!) before we finally decided on a hole-in-the-wall Mexican eatery! I had a chicken fajita...very, very, good!!

Thursday morning we ate a a really cute outdoor place that had several palapas. The picture below shows you what a palapa looks like. They can be small or large.
Ater that delicious breakfast, we headed the 8 hours back home!

All in all, the trip was very nice, but a little too short!

Here's a slideshow of some of the pictures.
Hint: Once you hit play for the slideshow to come up, try hitting the next button instead of play. Even at it's slowest, it goes a little too fast to read the captions and look at the pictures.

I also wanted to say"Thank-You" to Michelle and Kay for coming to visit us! We had a blast! They also brought along tons of clothes for the kids and food and personal items for Michael and I...what a blessing. Once again, "Thank-You!!!' We hope you enjoyed your stay! Come back soon!!!

We're Back!

We have arrived home! It's nice to have a little cooler weather as opposed to the hot, Texas sun! It's also nice to have internet access...

We enjoyed our short visit to San Antonio. On Friday, we ate lunch on the Riverwalk, then we went to The Alamo, and then a short trip into the River Center Mall.

Some guy volunteered to take our picture as we were eating. His picture taking abilities were...amazing! (Ha! Ha!)

The Alamo.

So now that we're done romping around, it's time to get back to work! Michael starts language school on Monday and I will begin studying on Rosetta Stone. We're also still trying to get our house in some resemblance of order. Thank the Lord, we were able to get a recliner while we were in Texas, so now we have one comfy place to sit!

Update

Well...let's see...I'm not sure where to start. So many things have happened since I last posted.

Thanks for your thoughts, I did feel better the day after my last post. Unfortunately, it was short lived! Saturday morning, I woke up with a pretty bad headache and it lasted through that night and into Sunday. I'm rarely sick, so I thought I must have a brain tumor, or something! I took some Ibuprofen, but it didn't do a thing. I was just plain miserable! Collette met Michael on Sunday morning to watch the kids, then for a Mother's Day special, I went to the ER in Leon. They did a CAT scan, but nothing was found that would cause a headache. The one doctor said it was a stomach infection and that was causing a headache??? Who knows! They gave me a shot for pain, and prescriptions for more pain meds. I haven't had any more recurrences, so...maybe I was just having a bad week!!

The other part of the story is that we were planning on leaving with Philip and Collette to come out to Texas that Sunday night. Since the pain shot did it's job, we went ahead and came. Taylor turns one next week and needs shots, also we need to buy a few more things and check our mail, etc...

Since we're following Philip and Collette's time table, we had some extra days to spare. So, we are enjoying the sights of San Antonio for two days. We got here this afternoon and went down to the RiverWalk and took a boat ride. Kyle really enjoyed that! Michael's also hoping to visit The Alamo some time.

Vacation Update - part II

Here are some more pictures from our trip to Washington.

Kyle and Taylor are ready for camp meeting.

Daddy and Kyle walking at the Pacific Ocean.

For all the animal lovers, we went to "NorthwesTrek" a place where we rode a tram and got to see lots of animals that are native to Washington. It was neat to see some of these animals close enough to reach out and touch - as long as you didn't mind losing your hand!!

We also went to the Mt. Rainier National Park, but unfortunately, it was very cloudy that day, and we didn't get clear pictures...but the landscape we could see was very beautiful!

And just for everyone's enjoyment, the picture below is me up on the roof of the mobile home/trailer we stayed in...it got TP'd the second time and I was trying to clean it up...

And if you think of it, say a prayer for me over the next 2 1/2 weeks. I need to sort and then pack up all of our stuff..."Do I take it to Mexico, store it, sell it, or take it with me to use now and then..." As you can see, it's a daunting task! We'll actually be moving into my grandfather's place until we leave for Florida and then on to Mexico, come January. So anyway....if you're close enough, you could always stop by my yard sale this Saturday the 18th or on Saturday the 25th.

Dear Bloggers...

It seems like forever since I've posted. Of course, that would be due to that fact that we are busy right now! Very profound, I know!

We are singing for the Pierce County Holiness Association Camp Meeting in Tacoma, Washington. They are wonderful people, and the Lord has really been helping in our services. The special speaker is Bro. Robert Wilson.

Here is a picture of the tabernacle.
This is the mobile home/trailer where we are staying. As you can see, one night, the young people went out of their way to give us a good welcome!

This picture was taken from the waters of Puget Sound. Mt. Rainier is approximately 65 miles away, yet it seems so close. It's absolutely stunning!

I think I could take hundreds of pictures of this mountain! Hopefully, we'll have more to come! After the camp is over, we are planning on taking a day and visiting the Mt. Rainier National Park - doing a little up close and personal visit!

Kyle is enjoying the ducks at a little park we stopped at.

Kyle also had a birthday on July 30th. He turned 2 yrs. old - where has the time flown? (Please don't tell him, but I don't think the "terrible two" part has kicked in yet. He's generally good, just curious and a little too independent at times)!! The camp provided some delicious cake and ice cream. We'll actually have an official family celebration later in the month of August.

This is the Star Lake Church of God Holiness where Michael preached last Sunday morning. It was beautiful inside and out!

We will be doing some other sight-seeing after camp, so I'll have more pics to show...just no promises on when I'll get around to it!
