Colorado: Part II

The second full day we were in Colorado [10-02-10], we went to a little place called Telluride that is situated in a valley between tall mountains. And let me tell you, out of all the places Michael and I have visited, this probably was our favorite. The village was quaint and picturesque and the view was breathtaking!!!!!!! The golden aspens just shimmered against the evergreens. We were wishing we had a whole week to enjoy and explore!

We parked in town, then walked beside a creek until we got to a " gondola station." We boarded the gondola (similar to a ski lift), and took the ride up the side of the mountain. It was a very cool experience! There is a station located at the top of the mountain where you can get off and hike or bike on trails, or you can continue riding the gondola down the mountain on the other side where there is another small, more modern and high class town called Mountain Village.

Anyway, we absolutely loved this area! If anybody near there is looking to donate their ranch, we'd be happy to take if off your hands!!! ;-)

Colorado: Part I

We recently had the pleasure of being in Colorado to hold a missions service. While there, we were able to spend two days sightseeing. The first day we went across the state line into Moab, Utah to the Arches National Park. It was a beautiful day and we had fun exploring the park.

I also really enjoy landscape photography, and am trying to learn more about it. These photos are definitely not pro status, but I hope you can glimpse some of the beauty I was able to see.

The Market in Guanajuato, MX

Yesterday we were able to go to Guanajuato, MX (where we used to live). We visited the indoor market and since I have never shared pictures from there before, I thought I would post a few.

This picture is taken from the upper level. (click on picture to enlarge it and see more details) There are many different kinds of stands represented here...tourist trinkets, food, misc. items, juice stands...

There are lots of fruit stands!

I really wanted to get a picture of the meat stands, but since my husband and his stomach do not get along when viewing those particular sights, I decided not to! :)

Air Show

We went to an awesome air show yesterday in Corpus Christi, TX! Among the things we got to see were, the U.S. Army parachute team - the "Golden Knights", "Fat Albert", and the famous "Blue Angels"!

A Recent Trip...

...to San Miguel de Allende

Our intent on this trip was to 1) check with immigration about getting more permanent visas and 2) mail our absentee voting ballot applications out to the States. But since we were there, we didn't want to pass up the opportunity to check out this beautiful city. Here are a few pictures from our sight-seeing.

Beautiful churches...

...and cathedrals. Wow!

Same place - different view.

A quick, blurry photo of the inside of the cathedral. Beautiful design, ornate details, and a majestic feeling.

Check out this set of organ pipes!

Street-side flower vendor.

A peek into an artisan gallery we passed walking down a street.

Stopped for a bite to eat.

A statue. (There's a story to be had about this man...if you really want to know, call, and Michael will be more than happy to tell you! I will say, it has to do with the start for their independence.)

Collette took this picture out our truck window. These dogs were keeping their eye on the traffic below. There may have been another one up there, but he was being a little shy at this moment!

...and to Delores Hidalgo

This place is famous for their hand painted ceramics and "homemade" ice cream. You can get many different flavors...the traditional vanilla, chocolate, real strawberry...but how about these kinds...? Shrimp, pork rine, avocado, elote (corn, mayonnaise, cayenne pepper)...! Ugh! Not my idea of gotta-have ice cream! Michael and Philip did sample quite a few of these...strange...!

One of the ceramic shops we stopped by.

And then on our way home, we drove through some beautiful mountains. Here's a view from the top - the city of Guanajuato. Beautiful, is it not?

- Went to the grocery store, MEGA
- Went to the beautiful 'Casa Colorado' for supper

(Above) Casa Colorado - hotel and restaurant

(Above) A horrible picture...but maybe it will give you an idea of how beautiful the view was from where we ate. We had our own personal room to dine in with two wall sized windows and a balcony.

Note: I did not take many pictures downtown. Maybe sometime soon I'll go on a photo shoot and show you more of where we live. There are some beautiful building here.

Today in Pictures - II

8/7/08
Thursday's Agenda:
- Went to the famous "Mummy Museum"
- Visited the artisan shops outside the museum
- Left our house early enough to eat at a taco place in Salamanca before church...except they were not open yet when we got there. So we ate grapes and crackers and peanut butter that Michael had brought to use for an object lesson. We also stopped at a small store and got drinks and ice cream.
- Then we went to church for Bible Study.

(Above) For whatever reason, most of the mummies had their mouths wide open!

(Above) Michelle and Kay looking at a pregnant mommy mummy with a premature baby.

For everyone's peace of mind, it was just we three ladies who toured the museum - the kids stayed in the truck with Michael.

(Above) Looking for t-shirts in one of the market shops.

(Above) Two little girls outside the markets shops - couldn't resist taking their picture.
